Honing critical thinking skills in our students

Critical thinking, essentially thinking about thinking, is the ability to think organize and rationalize our thoughts, and to draw a conclusion from information presented to you. It is an important ability that enables students to better solve problems in the real world as well in the academic world.

At our tuition center, we help our students develop this essential skill by:

1. Encouraging our students to share their thought process

When our make mistakes, instead of just correcting their mistakes, we ask our students to elaborate how did they arrive at the solution. In this way, our tutor seeks to understand how did they arrive at a particular conclusion.

2. Understand the reasoning behind their thought process

As our students share on their thought process, our tutors try to get a better understanding on why did they draw certain conclusions. We help them express their thoughts, and at the same time guide them along the way on the correct methods.

3. Teach them that there may be more than one solution to a problem

Instead of teaching one solution to the problem, our tutors help the students understand there can be various ways of tackling a problem. There may be no one direct answer to all problems.

At our tuition center, our tutors hone skills to prepare our students for the real world when they step into the workplace, and for bigger challenges in life.
